The GreenDry Service

We use HOST®, the leading dry extraction carpet cleaning method which is recommended by carpet manufacturers and fiber producers worldwide.

Advanced Formula HOST® Sponges Carpet Cleaner is a soft, natural product that is safe, non-toxic and environmentally friendly. It is moistened with water, detergent and a small amount of safe-to-use-solvent that dissolves, absorbs and traps soil, spots and odors as it cleans, and is removed by vacuuming. Your carpet is clean, dry and ready to use and enjoy immediately! Matted carpets are revived and once again become soft to the touch. HOST® works great on synthetic and stain-resistant carpet and natural fibers like wool (it carries the Woolsafe Seal of approval), sisal and jute. You won’t have to worry about damage from shrinkage, over wetting, mold and mildew, or damage to your hardwood floors.

Indoor Air Quality with HOST

Carpet plays an important and healthful role in filtering the air indoors. It traps and holds soil, dust and allergens. The vertical pile of carpet traps and holds many times its weight in small particles, including dust and allergens that enter the indoor environment and descend onto it from above. However, the carpet does not release these elements back into the air. Therefore, just as it is important to clean or replace a furnace or HVAC filter, it’s necessary to routinely clean carpets.

The HOST® System of applying HOST® Dry Carpet Cleaner to the carpet, brushing it through the carpet and then vacuuming up the HOST® Dry Carpet Cleaner removes dirt and reduces allergens. With our machines, one cleaning reduces dust mites by 78%, dust mite allergen by 89%, cat allergen by 85% and mold spores by 97%.

Our 6-stage-filtered eVAC is 99% efficient at 1 micron. Extra charge applies, upon customer's request and agreement, for adding a HEPA media filter with 99.97% efficiency at 0.3 micron.

General Principles of GreenDry Professional Carpet Cleaning

  1. Dry Soil Removing - vacuuming with an extractorVAC which has a 6-stage filtration system that traps particles as small as 1 micron in size at 99% efficiency.

  2. Soil Suspension - cleaning. The HOST® system suspends soils with chemical action, agitation and time. Heat is unnecessary.

  3. Soil Extraction/Removal - accomplished by absorbing action of cleaner along with the final vacuuming.

  4. Pile Setting or Grooming

  5. Carpets are revived and are ready to use right away!

Comparison Chart - Carpet Cleaning Methods (Source: HOST School)

In our research, we found that in Canada most people still think carpets are best cleaned by wetting them. Books, internet, and long-history companies are still preaching that the traditional wet/steam cleaning is the best. Tradition is good as long as it benefits mankind and the environment but if it does not, it needs to be changed, just like the recent alarm of BPA found in water bottles - regardless of the long history that we, including babies, have been using bottles with BPA, we now know it's harmful and we have to avoid it. Yes, we have to change the mindset and believe wetter is not better.

The dry system was developed in 1938 and has since been popular in the States and many European countries but it is way underdeveloped in Canada. When we start going green we should also redefine the meaning of carpet cleaning.

Water extractors use large amounts of water and they generate large amounts of wastewater which burdens sewers and water treatment facilities. Also, wastewater left in the carpet evaporates, humidifying buildings and forcing air conditioners and dehumidifiers to run harder and longer.

GreenDry Carpet Cleaning deep cleans carpets with 97% less water than typical high-flow water extractors. There is less than one teaspoon of liquid per square foot, so unlike other wet cleaning methods, we do not leave carpets wet with dirty wastewater that can lead to mold growth and cause health problems. Our method helps remove mold and mildew from carpets.

Energy-wise, our dry method doesn't need: to heat water, use blowers, for air conditioners to dry carpets, and for dehumidifiers to remove moisture.

Also, through vacuuming, our powerful six-stage filtration system traps dirt particles as small as 1 micron in size at 99% efficiency (average size of most bacteria: 2 microns).

So, which is the better choice? We know you have the answer.
